Ingredients

  • 500 grams Broccoli florets
  • 6 pieces Bacon strips
  • 2 pieces Garlic cloves
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon Red pepper flakes (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Prepare by cutting the broccoli into bite-sized florets and mincing the garlic cloves.

Step 2

In a large skillet or frying pan, cook the bacon strips over medium heat until they are crispy. This will take about 5–7 minutes. Transfer the cooked bacon to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess grease. Reserve about 1 tablespoon of bacon grease in the pan, discarding the rest.

Step 3

While the bacon cools, roughly chop it into small pieces and set aside.

Step 4

In the same skillet with the reserved bacon grease, add the olive oil and garlic. Cook over medium heat for about 30 seconds, stirring constantly, until the garlic becomes fragrant but not browned.

Step 5

Add the broccoli florets to the skillet. Stir to coat the broccoli in the garlic and grease mixture.

Step 6

Season the broccoli with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if desired. Stir well to evenly distribute the seasoning.

Step 7

Cover the skillet with a lid and cook for 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the broccoli is tender but still slightly crisp.

Step 8

Once the broccoli is cooked to your desired texture, remove the lid and stir in the chopped bacon bits.

Step 9

Transfer the broccoli and bacon mixture to a serving dish and enjoy immediately as a warm side dish.
