Ingredients

  • 4 cups Canned navy beans
  • 6 slices Bacon
  • 1 medium Onion, diced
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 cup Ketchup
  • 1 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Yellow mustard
  • 2 tablespoons Molasses
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2

In a large cast-iron skillet or oven-safe pot, cook the bacon over medium heat until crisp. Remove the bacon and set aside, leaving the bacon fat in the skillet.

Step 3

Add the diced onion to the bacon fat and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.

Step 4

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 1 minute until fragrant.

Step 5

Add the ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, yellow mustard, molasses, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, and salt to the skillet. Stir well to combine, creating a rich sauce.

Step 6

Mix in the navy beans and crumbled bacon (reserve a bit of bacon for topping). Stir thoroughly to ensure the beans are well coated in the sauce.

Step 7

Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, then transfer the skillet to the preheated oven.

Step 8

Bake uncovered for 75 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is thickened and bubbling.

Step 9

Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes.

Step 10

Serve hot, garnished with the reserved bacon.
