Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs ground beef (80% lean)
  • 0.5 cups BBQ sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese slices
  • 4 pieces burger buns
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 4 pieces lettuce leaves
  • 8 pieces tomato slices
  • 4 pieces red onion slices
  • 4 slices pickles

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, BBQ sauce, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently with your hands until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Step 2

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a uniform patty about 3/4 inch thick. Use your thumb to make a slight indent in the center of each patty to prevent puffing while cooking.

Step 3

Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.

Step 4

Place the patties on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes on the first side without pressing down, to allow a nice crust to form.

Step 5

Flip the patties and cook for another 4-5 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) for medium doneness. Add a slice of cheddar cheese to each patty during the last minute of cooking to allow the cheese to melt.

Step 6

Meanwhile, butter the insides of the burger buns and toast them on the grill for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

Step 7

Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun. Top with a cooked patty, followed by tomato slices, red onion slices, and pickles. Add the top bun, and serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side if desired.

Step 8

Enjoy your Yummy BBQ Burgers with your favorite sides!
