Ingredients

  • 8 cups chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger (sliced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 12 pieces shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 1 piece chicken breast (thinly sliced)
  • 2 heads baby bok choy (halved or quartered)
  • 1 cup carrots (julienned)
  • 1 cup snap peas
  • 1 cup mushrooms (sliced)
  • 24 pieces wonton wrappers
  • 1 cup ground pork
  • 4 stalks green onions (chopped)
  • 1 piece egg
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon white pepper

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground pork, 2 tablespoons of chopped green onions, egg, cornstarch, salt, and white pepper to prepare the wonton filling. Mix until well combined.

Step 2

To assemble the wontons, place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Add about 1 teaspoon of the pork mixture in the center. Lightly dampen the edges of the wrapper with water, fold it into a triangle, and press the edges to seal. Then, bring the two bottom corners together and press to form the classic wonton shape. Repeat for all wrappers.

Step 3

In a large pot, bring the chicken broth to a gentle boil. Add soy sauce, sesame oil, sliced ginger, and minced garlic. Let it simmer for 5 minutes to infuse the flavors.

Step 4

Drop the prepared wontons into the simmering broth and cook for 5-6 minutes or until they float to the surface.

Step 5

Add the sliced chicken breast, shrimp, bok choy, carrots, snap peas, and mushrooms to the pot. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes or until the chicken and shrimp are fully cooked and the vegetables are tender but crisp.

Step 6

Taste the soup and adjust the seasoning with additional soy sauce or salt if needed.

Step 7

Serve hot, garnished with the remaining chopped green onions.
