Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 Large egg
  • 0.5 cups Water
  • 0.25 cups Cornstarch (for dusting)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt, mixing well to evenly distribute the salt.

Step 2

Crack the egg into the flour mixture and mix it in using a fork or your hands until it begins to form clumps.

Step 3

Slowly add the water, a little at a time, mixing continuously until the dough comes together into a firm ball. You may need slightly more or less water depending on the flour and humidity.

Step 4

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead it for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Step 5

Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let it rest at room temperature for 30 minutes. This allows the gluten to relax, making the dough easier to roll out.

Step 6

Divide the dough into four equal pieces. Keep the pieces you aren’t using covered with a damp towel or plastic wrap to prevent drying out.

Step 7

Roll out one piece of dough on a floured surface as thinly as possible without tearing (approximately 1/16 inch thick).

Step 8

Using a 3- to 3.5-inch round cutter, cut out circles from the dough. Alternatively, you can cut the dough into 3-inch squares. Gather the scraps, re-roll, and cut until all the dough is used.

Step 9

Lightly dust each wonton wrap with cornstarch to prevent them from sticking together. Stack the wraps and store them under a damp towel until ready to use.

Step 10

Repeat the process with the remaining pieces of dough.

Step 11

Your wonton wraps are now ready to be filled or stored. If not using immediately, they can be wrapped tightly and frozen for up to 3 months.
