Ingredients

  • 0.5 pound ground pork
  • 0.25 pound shrimp, peeled, deveined, and finely chopped
  • 2 stalks green onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon white pepper
  • 30 sheets wonton wrappers
  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups bok choy, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (for broth)
  • 0.5 teaspoon sesame oil (for broth)
  • 1 stalk green onion, sliced (for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, combine ground pork, chopped shrimp, finely chopped green onion (2 stalks), soy sauce (2 tablespoons), sesame oil (1 teaspoon), grated ginger (1 teaspoon), salt, and white pepper. Mix well to create the wonton filling.

Step 2

Place 1 teaspoon of filling in the center of a wonton wrapper. Wet the edges of the wrapper with water, fold into a triangle, and press the edges to seal. Bring the two bottom corners together to form a ‘boat’ shape, and press firmly. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.

Step 3

In a large pot, bring chicken broth (6 cups) to a boil over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic (2 cloves), soy sauce (1 tablespoon), and sesame oil (0.5 teaspoon) to the broth.

Step 4

Carefully drop the prepared wontons into the broth. Reduce the heat to medium and let the wontons cook for 4-5 minutes, or until they float to the top.

Step 5

Add chopped bok choy to the broth and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until tender.

Step 6

Ladle the soup into bowls, ensuring each bowl has a generous portion of wontons and bok choy. Garnish with sliced green onions and serve immediately.
