  • 300 grams all-purpose flour
  • 200 grams unsalted butter
  • 80 grams granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 250 grams walnuts
  • 150 grams brown sugar
  • 120 milliliters heavy cream
  • 50 milliliters maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and granulated sugar.

Step 2

Cut the unsalted butter into small cubes and use your fingertips or a pastry cutter to blend it into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 3

Add the egg yolk and cold water. Mix until the dough comes together, but do not overwork it. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 20 minutes.
