Ingredients

  • 12 ounces egg noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 15 ounces tomato sauce
  • 14.5 ounces diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish and set aside.

Step 2

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the egg noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 3

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook for 3-4 minutes until softened. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.

Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess grease.

Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 5 minutes.

In a medium bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese and sour cream until smooth.

Repeat the layers: remaining noodles, cream cheese mixture, beef mixture, and remaining cheeses on top.

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Remove the casserole from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes. Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley, if desired, before serving.
