Ingredients

  • 450 grams fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 1.5 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 0.5 teaspoons red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted

Directions

Step 1

Wash and trim the green beans, removing the tough ends.

Step 2

Heat a wok over medium-high heat until very hot, then add the vegetable oil and sesame oil. Swirl to coat the bottom of the wok.

Step 3

Add the trimmed green beans to the wok and stir-fry for 4-5 minutes, until they start to blister in spots and become slightly tender but still crisp.

Step 4

Push the green beans to the sides of the wok, creating a space in the center. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the center and stir-fry for 30 seconds, until fragrant.

Step 5

Combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, and red pepper flakes (if using) in a small bowl. Pour this mixture over the green beans and toss to coat evenly.

Step 6

Continue to cook for an additional 2 minutes, stirring frequently, until the green beans are glazed and tender-crisp.

Step 7

Sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds over the green beans and give them a final toss.

Step 8

Transfer the green beans to a serving plate and serve immediately.
