Ingredients

  • 120 grams unsalted butter, softened
  • 150 grams light brown sugar, packed
  • 50 grams granulated sugar
  • 1 unit large egg
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 120 grams whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoons salt
  • 120 grams rolled oats
  • 150 grams semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon milk (optional, for adjusting dough consistency)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes using a hand mixer or stand mixer on medium speed.

Step 3

Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

Step 4

In a separate bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and salt.

Step 5

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Step 6

Fold in the rolled oats and semi-sweet chocolate chips. If the dough seems too dry, add milk (1 tablespoon at a time) to achieve the desired consistency.

Step 7

Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers look just set. Do not overbake, as the cookies will continue to firm up as they cool.

Step 9

Remove cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 10

Serve and enjoy! Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
