Ingredients

  • 240 grams Whole wheat flour
  • 80 grams Rolled oats
  • 120 grams All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 50 grams Brown sugar
  • 360 milliliters Guinness beer
  • 120 grams Plain yogurt
  • 30 grams Butter (melted)
  • 2 tablespoons Oats (for topping)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan and line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Step 2

In a large bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, rolled oats, all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, and brown sugar. Mix well to evenly distribute the dry ingredients.

Step 3

In a separate bowl, whisk together Guinness beer, plain yogurt, and melted butter until smooth.

Step 4

Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently with a wooden spoon or spatula. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix; the batter should be thick and slightly lumpy.

Step 5

Transfer the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it out evenly. Sprinkle the top with the extra oats for a rustic finish.

Step 6

Bake in the preheated oven for 50-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 7

Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer the bread onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 8

Slice and serve with butter, jams, or alongside your favorite hearty soup or stew.
