Ingredients

  • 3 cups Whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup Bread flour
  • 1 cup Beer (room temperature)
  • 0.5 cup Water (room temperature)
  • 3 tablespoons Honey
  • 3 tablespoons Unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 2.25 teaspoons Active dry yeast

Directions

Step 1

Add the beer and water to the bread machine's pan first, ensuring both liquids are at room temperature.

Step 2

Add the honey and softened butter to the liquids in the pan.

Step 3

Measure and add the whole wheat flour and bread flour into the pan, ensuring the flour covers the liquids completely.

Step 4

Make a small well in the center of the flour and add the salt and active dry yeast, keeping them separate from the liquids.

Step 5

Set the bread machine to the Dough cycle and start. This will take approximately 1.5 hours depending on your specific machine.

Step 6

Once the Dough cycle is complete, transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface.

Step 7

Divide the dough into 12 equal portions and shape them into smooth rolls.

Step 8

Place the rolls onto a lightly greased baking sheet or in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, leaving a little space between each roll to allow room for expansion.

Step 9

Cover the rolls loosely with a clean kitchen towel and let them rise in a warm, draft-free location for 30-40 minutes or until doubled in size.

Step 10

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) during the last 10 minutes of the second rise.

Step 11

Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown on top.

Step 12

Remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. Optionally, brush the tops with melted butter for extra richness.
