Ingredients

  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries
  • 3 quarters of a cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cups orange juice
  • 0.5 cups water
  • 1 teaspoons orange zest
  • 0.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoons fresh ginger (grated)
  • 1 pinches pinch of salt

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the cranberries in a colander and discard any soft or discolored berries.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, orange juice, and water. Heat over medium heat and stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.

Step 3

Stir in the cranberries, orange zest, ground cinnamon, grated ginger, and a pinch of salt.

Step 4

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer.

Step 5

Cook the sauce for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries have burst and the sauce has thickened. If desired, mash some of the cranberries with the back of a spoon for a slightly smoother consistency.

Step 6

Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the sauce cool to room temperature. It will continue to thicken as it cools.

Step 7

Transfer the cranberry sauce to a serving dish or an airtight container for later use. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
