Ingredients

  • 500 grams Ground pork
  • 100 grams Water chestnuts, finely chopped
  • 3 stalks Green onions, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Coconut aminos
  • 1 tablespoon Fish sauce (Whole30 compliant)
  • 1 teaspoon Five-spice powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground white pepper
  • 1 large Egg (optional, for binding)
  • 2 tablespoons Coconut flour
  • 12 leaves Romaine or butter lettuce leaves
  • 2 tablespoons Cooking fat (e.g., coconut oil or avocado oil)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, chopped water chestnuts, green onions, minced garlic, coconut aminos, fish sauce, five-spice powder, and ground white pepper.

Step 2

If using an egg, crack it into the mixture to bind the ingredients together. If not, add the coconut flour to help bind. Mix thoroughly with your hands or a spoon until well-combined.

Step 3

Divide the mixture into 12 equal portions and shape each into a small cylindrical roll, about the size of your thumb.

Step 4

Heat the cooking fat in a skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the meat rolls in batches. Sear each roll on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown.

Step 5

Lower the heat to medium-low and cover the skillet. Allow the rolls to cook through for an additional 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking.

Step 6

Remove the cooked meat rolls from the skillet and let them cool slightly.

Step 7

To serve, wrap each meat roll in a lettuce leaf to create a crispy, fresh wrap. Serve immediately as a snack, appetizer, or main course.
