Ingredients

  • 500 grams frozen green peas
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 inch piece, grated ginger
  • 3 cloves, minced garlic
  • 1 medium, finely chopped onion
  • 1 finely chopped (optional) green chili
  • 0.5 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons, chopped cilantro
  • 1 cut into wedges lime

Directions

Step 1

Heat coconut oil in a large pan over medium heat.

Step 2

Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds and let them sputter for about 30 seconds.

Step 3

Add grated ginger, minced garlic, and finely chopped onion. Sauté until the onion turns golden brown, about 4-5 minutes.

Step 4

Add the chopped green chili, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and red chili powder. Sauté for another minute to allow the spices to become fragrant.

Step 5

Stir in the frozen green peas and mix well to coat the peas with the spices.

Step 6

Add salt and 2 tablespoons of water. Stir and cover the pan with a lid.

Step 7

Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the peas are tender and the flavors have melded together.

Step 8

Remove from heat and garnish with chopped cilantro.

Step 9

Serve hot with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the peas before eating.
