Ingredients

  • 500 grams fresh tuna or white fish fillet
  • 120 ml coconut vinegar
  • 80 ml lime juice
  • 1 medium red onion
  • 1 thumb-sized piece ginger
  • 1 piece red chili
  • 1 medium cucumber
  • 4 pieces radishes
  • 2 stalks spring onion
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 bowl ice cubes

Directions

Step 1

1. Begin by preparing the fish: rinse the fish fillet under cold water and then pat it dry with paper towels.

Step 2

2. Dice the fish into small cubes, approximately 1/2-inch in size.

Step 3

3. Place the fish cubes in a medium-sized bowl and cover with ice cubes. This will keep the fish cold while you prepare the other ingredients.

Step 4

4. Peel and thinly slice the red onion; soak it in cold water to mellown the taste.

Step 5

5. Peel and finely mince the ginger.

Step 6

6. Slice the red chili thinly. If you prefer less heat, remove the seeds before slicing.

Step 7

7. Peel and dice the cucumber into small cubes.

Step 8

8. Slice the radishes thinly.

Step 9

9. Finely chop the spring onion.

Step 10

10. Discard the ice and any melted water from the fish bowl. Add coconut vinegar and lime juice to the fish to marinate them.

Step 11

11. Drain the soaked onions and add them to the fish along with minced ginger, sliced chili, cucumber, radishes, and spring onions.

Step 12

12. Season with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper. Mix everything gently until well combined.

Step 13

13. Cover the bowl and let it marinate in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes before serving.

Step 14

14. Serve cold as an appetizer or as part of a meal. Enjoy this fresh and zesty Whole30-friendly dish!
