Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (80% lean)
  • 0.5 medium onion
  • 1 large garlic clove
  • 1 tablespoon coconut aminos
  • 1 teaspoon dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon sea salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil

Directions

Step 1

Start by finely dicing the half onion and mincing the garlic clove.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, diced onion, minced garlic, coconut aminos, dijon mustard, smoked paprika, sea salt, and black pepper. Mix with your hands until all ingredients are evenly incorporated, taking care not to overwork the meat.

Step 3

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty about 3/4-inch thick.

Step 4

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the coconut oil and swirl to coat the pan.

Step 5

Once the oil is shimmering, add the beef patties to the skillet, making sure not to overcrowd. You may need to cook them in batches.

Step 6

Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes on one side, without moving them, until a crust forms and they release easily from the pan.

Step 7

Flip the patties and reduce the heat to medium. Continue to cook for another 3-5 minutes, or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F, indicating they are cooked through.

Step 8

Remove the patties from the skillet and allow them to rest for a few minutes before serving.

Step 9

Enjoy on a lettuce wrap with your favorite Whole30-compliant toppings or alongside some roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
