In a large bowl, combine ground beef, almond flour, egg, 1 tablespoon of coconut aminos, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper. Mince 1 garlic clove and add it to the mixture. Mix until well combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
Divide the beef mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick.
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the hamburger steaks and cook for about 4 minutes on each side, or until browned. Remove the steaks from the skillet and set aside.
Thinly slice the onions. In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil. Lower the heat to medium and add the sliced onions. Cook for about 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onions are soft and golden brown.
Mince the remaining garlic clove and add it to the onions. Cook for additional 1 minute until fragrant.
Add the beef broth and 2 tablespoons of coconut aminos to the skillet. Stir to combine, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
In a small bowl, whisk together arrowroot powder and water until smooth. Pour the mixture into the skillet and stir well. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the gravy has thickened.
Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet, spooning the onion gravy over them. Reduce heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 5 minutes or until the steaks are cooked to your desired level of doneness.
Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed.
Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.
