Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 1 cup raw cashews
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 4 large lettuce leaves
  • 1 medium, sliced tomato
  • 0.5 small, sliced red onion

Directions

Step 1

Start by soaking the cashews in hot water for at least 10 minutes, then drain.

Step 2

In a blender, combine soaked cashews, 1/2 cup water, nutritional yeast, lemon juice, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Blend until smooth and creamy to make the cashew cheese sauce.

Step 3

Preheat a skillet over medium heat and cook the bacon until crispy. Remove from skillet and set aside on a paper towel-lined plate.

Step 4

In a mixing bowl, season the ground beef with salt and pepper. Divide into four equal portions and shape into patties.

Step 5

In the same skillet used for the bacon, cook the beef patties over medium-high heat, about 3-4 minutes per side, until they reach the desired doneness.

Step 6

To assemble the burgers, place a lettuce leaf on a plate, top with a beef patty, a spoonful of cashew cheese sauce, a slice of tomato, crispy bacon, and slices of red onion.

Step 7

Use another lettuce leaf to top the burger and serve immediately.
