Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh green beans
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.5 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 cup water

Directions

Step 1

Wash the green beans and trim the ends. Cut them into approximately 2-inch pieces.

Step 2

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 3

Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 5 minutes until translucent.

Step 4

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, water, dried basil, dried oregano, red pepper flakes, black pepper, and sea salt to the skillet. Stir well to combine.

Step 6

Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and let it cook uncovered for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

Step 7

Add the green beans to the tomato sauce and cover the skillet.

Step 8

Simmer on low heat for about 15-20 minutes or until the green beans are tender, stirring occasionally.

Step 9
