Ingredients

  • 150 grams White chocolate
  • 500 milliliters Whole milk
  • 100 milliliters Heavy cream
  • 4 large Egg yolks
  • 50 grams Granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch Salt

Directions

Step 1

Chop the white chocolate into small pieces and set aside in a heatproof bowl.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan, combine the whole milk and heavy cream. Heat over medium heat until small bubbles form around the edges but do not let it boil.

Step 3

In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and salt until smooth and pale in color.

Step 4

Slowly pour the heated milk and cream mixture into the egg mixture while continuously whisking. This will temper the eggs and prevent them from scrambling.

Step 5

Pour the tempered mixture back into the saucepan and return it to medium-low heat. Stir constantly using a wooden spoon or a silicone spatula to prevent sticking.

Step 6

Continue cooking until the mixture thickens and coats the back of the spoon. This should take about 5–7 minutes.

Step 7

Remove the saucepan from the heat and immediately pour the custard through a fine-mesh sieve into the bowl with the chopped white chocolate.

Step 8

Allow the heat of the custard to melt the white chocolate, then stir until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.

Step 9

Stir in the vanilla extract for added flavor.

Step 10

Transfer the custard to serving dishes or bowls. Cover the surface with plastic wrap to prevent a skin from forming, ensuring the wrap touches the custard directly.

Step 11

Let the custard cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until fully chilled.

Step 12

Serve as a dessert on its own, or use it as a filling or topping. Garnish with whipped cream or fresh berries if desired.
