Ingredients

  • 4 pieces (about 6 oz each) Salmon filets (skin-on or skinless)
  • 0.5 cup Whiskey
  • 0.25 cup Soy sauce
  • 0.25 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame seeds, toasted (for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

In a medium bowl, whisk together the whiskey, soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and black pepper until well combined to create the marinade.

Step 2

Place the salmon filets in a shallow dish or resealable plastic bag. Pour half of the marinade over the salmon, reserving the rest for later. Ensure all filets are evenly coated. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Step 3

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) or prepare a grill over medium heat.

Step 4

If using the oven, line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup. Arrange the marinated salmon filets on the sheet, skin-side down if applicable.

Step 5

Brush the salmon with some of the reserved marinade. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).

Step 6

If grilling, lightly oil the grill grates. Place the salmon filets on the grill, skin-side down if applicable. Cook for 4-5 minutes per side, basting occasionally with the reserved marinade, or until the salmon reaches the desired doneness.

Step 7

While the salmon is cooking, transfer the remainder of the reserved marinade to a small saucepan over medium heat. Simmer for 3-5 minutes until slightly thickened to create a glaze.

Step 8

Remove the salmon from the oven or grill. Drizzle the thickened glaze over the salmon.

Step 9

Garnish with chopped green onions and toasted sesame seeds before serving. Serve immediately with your choice of sides, such as steamed vegetables or rice.
