Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2.5 cups bread flour
  • 0.5 cup whole wheat flour
  • 3 tablespoons toasted wheat germ
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1.5 teaspoons active dry yeast

Directions

Step 1

Add the water, honey, and vegetable oil to the bread machine pan, following your machine's manual on the order of liquid ingredients.

Step 2

Next, add the bread flour, whole wheat flour, and wheat germ. Make sure the flour covers the liquid completely.

Step 3

Sprinkle the salt evenly across the top of the flour mixture, being careful to keep it away from the yeast.

Step 4

Form a small well in the center of the flour and add the active dry yeast. Do not let the yeast touch the liquid ingredients yet.

Step 5

Place the bread machine pan into the machine and secure it as required by your model.

Step 6

Select the Basic or Whole Wheat bread setting, depending on your machine, with a medium crust option, if available.

Step 7

Start the machine and allow it to complete the kneading, rising, and baking processes.

Step 8

Once the bread cycle is complete, remove the bread pan carefully using oven mitts and allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes.

Step 9

Turn the bread out onto a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
