Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted butter
  • 1 large Egg
  • 0.25 cup Milk
  • 2 teaspoons Instant coffee granules
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup Walnuts (chopped)
  • 0.75 cup Powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Strong brewed coffee (cooled)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and baking powder.

Step 3

Cut in the butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 4

In a small bowl, combine the egg, milk, instant coffee granules, and vanilla extract. Stir until the coffee granules are fully dissolved.

Step 5

Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms. Be careful not to overmix.

Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently 2-3 times to bring it together.

Roll the dough out into a rectangle approximately 10x6 inches.
