Ingredients

  • 500 g Pork shoulder
  • 2 tbsp Tamarind paste
  • 3 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Fish sauce
  • 2 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 3 count Garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 count Red chili, finely sliced
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 2 count Shallots, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp Lemongrass, finely chopped
  • 1 cup Water
  • 3 count Green onions, chopped
  • 0.25 cup Fresh cilantro leaves
  • 4 cups Cooked jasmine rice (for serving)

Directions

Step 1

Thinly slice the pork shoulder into bite-sized strips and set aside.

Step 2

In a small bowl, mix the tamarind paste, soy sauce, fish sauce, and brown sugar until the sugar dissolves. Set the sauce mixture aside.

Step 3

Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large frying pan over medium-high heat.

Add the shallots and stir fry for 2 minutes until softened, then add the minced garlic, red chili, and lemongrass. Cook for another minute until fragrant.
