Ingredients

  • 500 grams Beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Brown sugar
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 stalks Lemongrass, finely chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 12 pieces Rice paper wrappers
  • 12 pieces Lettuce leaves
  • 1 cup Fresh mint leaves
  • 1 cup Fresh cilantro
  • 1 medium Cucumber, julienned
  • 1 medium Carrot, julienned
  • 100 grams Rice vermicelli, cooked
  • 1 tablespoon Vegetable oil
  • 0.5 cup Dipping sauce (nuoc cham)

Directions

Step 1

1. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, fish sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, chopped lemongrass, and ground black pepper. Add the thinly sliced beef to the marinade and mix well. Marinate for 20 minutes.

Step 2

2. Heat a grill pan or barbecue to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the surface with vegetable oil.

Step 3

3. Grill the marinated beef slices for 2-3 minutes on each side or until cooked through and slightly charred. Set aside to cool slightly.

Step 4

4. Prepare a large shallow dish with warm water. Dip a rice paper wrapper into the water for about 5 seconds, just until it softens, then lay it flat on a clean plate or surface.

Step 5

5. Place a lettuce leaf near the center of the rice paper. Add a few slices of grilled beef, a small handful of cooked rice vermicelli, cucumber, carrot, mint leaves, and cilantro.

Step 6

6. Fold the bottom edge of the rice paper over the filling. Fold in the sides, then roll tightly into a wrap. Repeat with the remaining ingredients.

Step 7

7. Serve the grilled beef wrap ups with a small bowl of nuoc cham dipping sauce on the side.
