Ingredients

  • 500 grams beef sirloin (thinly sliced)
  • 6 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoons black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 stalks green onions (sliced into 2-inch pieces)
  • 2 tablespoons cilantro (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

In a medium bowl, combine soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and black pepper. Stir well to create a marinade.

Step 2

Add the thinly sliced beef to the marinade. Mix until the beef is evenly coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes or up to 1 hour.

Step 3

Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and swirl to coat.

Step 4

Add half of the minced garlic to the hot oil and stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.

Step 5

Increase the heat to high and add the marinated beef in a single layer (you may need to cook in batches to avoid overcrowding). Sear the beef for 1-2 minutes on each side until it is just cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

Step 6

Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the skillet, if needed. Stir-fry the rest of the minced garlic for another 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 7

Return the cooked beef to the skillet, toss to combine with the garlic, and add the green onions. Stir-fry for an additional minute until the green onions are slightly wilted.

Step 8

Transfer the garlic beef to a serving plate. Garnish with chopped cilantro if desired.

Step 9

Serve hot with steamed rice and fresh greens on the side for a complete meal.
