Ingredients

  • 1 medium head green cabbage
  • 4 large garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 small red chili (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 sprigs scallions (green onions)

Directions

Step 1

Cut the head of cabbage into bite-sized pieces, discarding the core. Wash and drain well.

Step 2

Peel and finely mince the garlic cloves. Slice the red chili (if using) into thin rounds. Chop the scallions into 1-inch pieces and set aside.

Step 3

In a small bowl, mix the fish sauce, soy sauce, sugar, black pepper, and water. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Set the sauce aside.

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to let it burn.
