Ingredients

  • 1 head Green cabbage
  • 8 cups Water
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Lime juice
  • 1 clove, minced Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 small, finely sliced Fresh chili

Directions

Step 1

Remove any damaged outer leaves from the cabbage and rinse it thoroughly under cold water.

Step 2

Cut the cabbage into wedges, about 4-6 pieces, keeping the core intact to hold the leaves together.

Step 3

In a large pot, bring 8 cups of water and 1 teaspoon of salt to a boil over high heat.

Step 4

Once the water is boiling, carefully add the cabbage wedges to the pot.

Step 5

Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 7-10 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender but still slightly crisp.

Step 6

While the cabbage is boiling, prepare the dipping sauce by combining fish sauce, lime juice, minced garlic, sugar, and sliced chili in a small bowl. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.

Step 7

Once the cabbage is cooked, use tongs to remove the wedges from the pot and let them drain on a plate lined with paper towels.

Step 8

Serve the boiled cabbage warm with the dipping sauce on the side. Enjoy as a refreshing and light side dish.
