Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic cloves, minced
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup carrots, julienned
  • 1 cup daikon radish, julienned
  • 0.5 cup rice vinegar
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (for pickling)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup cilantro leaves
  • 0.25 cup fresh mint leaves
  • 1 jalapeño, thinly sliced
  • 4 burger buns
  • 0.5 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha

Directions

Step 1

In a medium bowl, combine the ground pork, ground beef, fish sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, minced garlic, and black pepper. Mix until just combined. Form into 4 equal burger patties and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.

Step 2

In a small saucepan, combine the rice vinegar, water, sugar, and salt for pickling. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves, then remove from heat. Add the julienned carrots and daikon to the mixture and set aside to cool for at least 20 minutes.

Step 3

Preheat a grill or skillet to medium-high heat. Cook the burger patties for 3-4 minutes per side, or until fully cooked and the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

Step 4

Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly golden.

Step 5

In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise and sriracha to create the spicy mayo sauce.

Step 6

Assemble the burgers: Spread a generous layer of the spicy mayo on the bottom bun. Place the cooked burger patty on top, followed by the pickled vegetables, fresh cilantro, mint leaves, and jalapeño slices. Top with the other half of the bun.

Step 7

Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes and enjoy your Vietnamese Bistro Burger!
