Ingredients

  • 6 cups Water
  • 4 pieces Black tea bags
  • 1.5 cups Fresh mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries)
  • 0.25 cups Granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon juice
  • 2 cups Ice cubes
  • 4 sprigs Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

In a medium-sized pot, bring 6 cups of water to a gentle boil.

Step 2

Once boiling, remove the pot from heat and add the black tea bags. Let them steep for 5 minutes, then remove and discard the tea bags.

Step 3

While the tea is steeping, in a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of the mixed berries, granulated sugar, and honey. Heat over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the berries soften, about 5 minutes.

Step 4

Use a spoon or fork to gently mash the softened berries, creating a berry syrup. Remove from heat and strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the pulp, collecting the syrup in a small bowl. Set the syrup aside to cool slightly.

Step 5

Once the tea has cooled to room temperature, stir in the berry syrup and 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. Mix well.

Step 6

In a large pitcher, add 2 cups of ice cubes and the remaining 0.5 cup of fresh mixed berries. Pour the berry tea mixture over the ice.

Step 7

Refrigerate the pitcher for at least 1 hour to chill and allow the flavors to meld together.

Step 8

When ready to serve, pour the iced tea into glasses filled with additional ice cubes, if desired. Garnish with fresh mint leaves for an extra pop of freshness.
