Ingredients

  • 200 grams Firm tofu
  • 100 grams Shiitake mushrooms
  • 2 sheets Nori sheets
  • 50 grams Rice flour
  • 50 grams Potato starch
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon White pepper
  • 50 milliliters Water
  • 200 milliliters Oil for frying
  • 2 stalks Green onion

Directions

Step 1

Drain and press the tofu to remove excess water. Pat dry with paper towels.

Step 2

Finely chop the shiitake mushrooms and crush the garlic cloves.

Step 3

Using a blender or food processor, pulse the tofu, mushrooms, nori sheets, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, salt, and white pepper until a smooth paste is formed.

Step 4

Transfer the mixture to a bowl and add rice flour, potato starch, and water. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.

Step 5

Chop the green onions finely and fold into the mixture.

Step 6

Shape the mixture into small, oval patties about 1 cm thick using your hands or a spoon.

Step 7

Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Ensure the oil is hot before adding the patties to prevent sticking.

Step 8

Carefully fry the patties in batches for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.

Step 9

Remove the patties and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.

Step 10

Serve the vegetarian fish cakes warm, accompanied with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
