Ingredients

  • 250 grams Tapioca flour
  • 50 grams All-purpose flour
  • 2 pieces Garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 pieces Scallions, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon White pepper
  • 300 milliliters Boiling water
  • 1 tablespoon Oil
  • 100 grams Peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 150 milliliters Coconut milk
  • 1 tablespoon Lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon Chili flakes
  • 100 milliliters Water

Directions

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, combine the tapioca flour, all-purpose flour, minced garlic, chopped scallions, salt, and white pepper.

Step 2

Gradually add the boiling water into the flour mixture while stirring continuously until it forms a dough-like consistency.

Step 3

Allow the dough to cool slightly until it is easy to handle, then knead it gently until smooth and pliable.

Step 4

Divide the dough into small, even pieces and roll each piece into a ball about the size of a marble.

Step 5

Prepare a steaming pot or steamer basket over boiling water. Grease the steamer basket with a bit of oil to prevent sticking.

Step 6

Place the tapioca balls into the steamer basket, ensuring they are not touching each other, and steam for 15 minutes until they look translucent and are cooked through. Set aside.

Step 7

To prepare the peanut sauce, combine the peanut butter, soy sauce, coconut milk, lime juice, sugar, chili flakes, and water in a small saucepan.

Step 8

Cook the sauce over low heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens and becomes smooth. Adjust the seasoning to taste.

Step 9

Serve the steamed tapioca balls warm with the prepared peanut sauce on the side for dipping.
