Ingredients

  • 1 package puff pastry sheets
  • 6 slices vegetarian ham slices
  • 150 grams cheddar cheese
  • 100 grams cream cheese
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F).

Step 2

Thaw the puff pastry sheets as per package instructions. Lightly dust your working surface with a tablespoon of flour to prevent sticking.

Step 3

Roll out the puff pastry sheets slightly to ensure they're even. Cut each pastry sheet into rectangles, about 10cm by 15cm, depending on original size.

Step 4

In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped fresh parsley, and black pepper. Mix well until combined.

Step 5

Lay out a puff pastry rectangle and place one slice of vegetarian ham on it. Spoon approximately 1 to 2 tablespoons of the cheese mixture on top of the ham.

Step 6

Fold the pastry over the filling to form a pocket. Press the edges gently and seal using the tines of a fork.

Step 7

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg yolk and tablespoon of milk to create an egg wash. Brush this over the top of the sealed pastries.

Step 8

Place the pastries on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, leaving space between each piece.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed.

Step 10

Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.

Step 11

Garnish with extra parsley before serving, if desired.
