Ingredients

  • 250 grams Vegetarian chicken strips
  • 40 pieces Wonton wrappers
  • 100 grams Shiitake mushrooms
  • 1 medium-sized Carrot
  • 3 stalks Spring onions
  • 1 inch piece Ginger
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch
  • 0.25 cup Water
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Finely chop the vegetarian chicken strips and set aside.

Step 2

Clean and finely chop the shiitake mushrooms, grate the carrot, and thinly slice the spring onions.

Step 3

Peel and grate the ginger, and mince the garlic cloves.

Step 4

In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped vegetarian chicken, shiitake mushrooms, grated carrot, spring onions, ginger, and garlic.

Step 5

Add soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper to the bowl. Mix well to combine all the ingredients thoroughly.

Step 6

In a small bowl, mix together cornstarch and water to create a slurry.

Step 7

Add the cornstarch slurry to the filling mixture and combine to help bind the ingredients together.

Step 8

Lay out the wonton wrappers on a clean surface. Place a teaspoon of filling in the center of each wonton wrapper.

Step 9

Lightly moisten the edges of each wrapper with water and fold them into a triangle, pressing the edges tightly to seal.

Step 10

Heat the vegetable oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat.

Step 11

Place the sealed wontons in the skillet in a single layer and cook for about 2-3 minutes or until the bottoms are golden brown.

Step 12

Carefully add about 1/4 cup of water to the skillet and cover the pan immediately. Allow the wontons to steam for an additional 3-4 minutes to cook through.

Step 13

Remove the lid and continue cooking for another 1-2 minutes until any remaining water evaporates.

Step 14

Transfer the vegetarian chicken wontons to a serving platter and serve hot with your choice of dipping sauce.
