Ingredients

  • 14 ounces extra firm tofu
  • 1 cup pickle juice
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 12 pieces mini yeast rolls
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Directions

Step 1

Press the tofu to remove excess moisture. Slice the tofu into 12 rectangular pieces that resemble chicken nuggets.

Marinate the tofu in pickle juice for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight if possible, for best results.

Step 3

In a large bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.

Remove the tofu from the pickle juice and dredge each piece in the flour mixture until fully coated. Shake off any excess flour.
