Ingredients

  • 4 pieces vegetarian burger patties
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 200 grams button mushrooms
  • 1 medium, finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves, minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups vegetable broth
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon, dried thyme
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon, chopped fresh parsley

Directions

Step 1

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 2

Add the vegetarian burger patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and heated through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Step 3

In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil.

Step 4

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté for 2-3 minutes until the onion is translucent.

Step 5

Add the sliced button mushrooms and cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms are browned and tender.

Step 6

Sprinkle the flour over the mushroom mixture and stir to coat. Cook for another 1 minute to remove the raw flour taste.

Step 7

Slowly pour in the vegetable broth while stirring continuously to avoid lumps.

Step 8

Add the soy sauce, dried thyme, black pepper, and salt. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes or until the gravy has thickened to your desired consistency.

Step 9

Return the cooked vegetarian burger patties to the skillet, spoon the mushroom gravy over the top, and let them warm through with the gravy for about 2-3 minutes.

Step 10

Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.

Step 11

Serve hot, optionally with mashed potatoes or rice.
