Ingredients

  • 2 large potatoes
  • 1 medium carrot
  • 1 cup green peas
  • 0.5 medium red bell pepper
  • 1 small onion
  • 2 small green chilies
  • 2 small garlic cloves
  • 0.25 cup fresh cilantro
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon chili powder
  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil
  • 0.25 cup water

Directions

Step 1

Peel and chop the potatoes into large cubes. Boil them in a pot of water until tender, approximately 15 minutes. Drain and set aside to cool.

Step 2

While the potatoes are boiling, finely chop the carrot, onion, bell pepper, garlic cloves, and green chilies.

Step 3

In a large bowl, mash the cooled potatoes. Add the chopped carrot, onion, bell pepper, garlic, green chilies, and green peas.

Step 4

Add the salt, ground black pepper, ground cumin, and chili powder to the mashed potato mixture. Mix until well combined.

Step 5

Stir in the chopped cilantro, mixing evenly throughout the mixture.

Step 6

Shape the mixture into small round patties, approximately 2 inches in diameter.

Step 7

In a shallow dish, place the all-purpose flour. In another shallow dish, pour the breadcrumbs.

Step 8

In a small bowl, combine the water with a tablespoon of flour to make a smooth batter.

Step 9

Dip each patty into the flour, then into the water-flour batter, and finally coat with breadcrumbs. Ensure each patty is evenly coated with breadcrumbs.

Step 10

Heat the vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium heat.

Step 11

Fry the patties in batches, about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.

Step 12

Remove the patties from the pan and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Step 13

Serve the patties warm with your favorite dipping sauce or a fresh salad.
