Ingredients

  • 300 grams beef-style seitan
  • 1 medium red bell pepper
  • 1 medium green bell pepper
  • 1 medium yellow bell pepper
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 0.5 teaspoons ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 stalks scallions
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water

Directions

Step 1

Prepare the vegetables: thinly slice the red, green, and yellow bell peppers. Cut the onion in half and then into thin slices, and mince the garlic cloves.

Step 2

In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and cornstarch with the water. Stir until the cornstarch is fully dissolved, then set aside.

Step 3

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger. Stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 4

Add the sliced onions to the skillet and stir-fry for about 2 minutes until they start to soften.

Step 5

Add the bell peppers to the skillet and continue to stir-fry until just tender yet crisp, about 3-4 minutes.

Step 6

Push the vegetables to one side of the skillet and add the beef-style seitan along with the sesame oil. Stir-fry the seitan until it is heated through and slightly crispy, about 4 minutes.
