Ingredients

  • 200 grams Plant-based beef strips
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Ground coriander
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground turmeric
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon juice
  • 4 pieces Pita bread
  • 2 medium Tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 medium Cucumber, sliced
  • 0.5 small Red onion, thinly sliced
  • 0.25 cup Fresh parsley, chopped
  • 0.5 cup Tahini sauce

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine the garlic powder, paprika, ground cumin, ground coriander, ground turmeric, ground cinnamon, ground black pepper, and salt.

Step 2

Add the plant-based beef strips to the bowl. Pour in the olive oil and lemon juice. Toss well to coat the strips evenly with the spice mixture. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes for maximum flavor.

Step 3

While the strips are marinating, prepare the vegetables: slice the tomatoes and cucumber, thinly slice the red onion, and chop the parsley.

Step 4

In a large skillet over medium heat, add a little olive oil and cook the marinated beef strips for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are heated through and lightly browned.

Step 5

Warm the pita bread in a dry skillet or oven for a couple of minutes until soft.

Step 6

To assemble the shawarma, spread a generous amount of tahini sauce inside each piece of warm pita bread.

Step 7

Layer in the cooked beef strips and top with sliced tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, and chopped parsley.

Step 8

Serve the Vegetarian Beef Shawarma immediately, optionally with extra tahini sauce on the side.
