  • 3 Cloves
  • 1 1-inch piece, grated Fresh ginger
  • 6 Black peppercorns
  • 1 Star anise
  • 1 cup Plant-based milk (e.g., almond, oat, or soy milk)
  • 2 teaspoons (adjust to taste) Maple syrup or coconut sugar

Directions

Step 1

In a saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil over medium heat.

Step 2

Lightly crush the green cardamom pods and black peppercorns to release their flavors. Add them to the boiling water along with the cinnamon stick, cloves, grated ginger, and star anise.

Step 3

Reduce the heat to low and let the spices simmer for 3-4 minutes to infuse their flavors into the water.
