  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for spice)

Directions

Step 1

Heat the olive oil over medium heat in a large pot or Dutch oven.

Add the diced onion and sauté for 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until soft and translucent.

Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes, being careful not to let it burn.
