Ingredients

  • 4 medium Potatoes
  • 0.5 cup Green peas
  • 2 tablespoons Corn flour (or gluten-free flour)
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Ground coriander
  • 0.5 teaspoon Chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 4 tablespoons Oil for shallow frying
  • 0.25 cup Tamarind chutney
  • 0.25 cup Green coriander chutney
  • 0.5 cup Vegan yogurt
  • 0.25 cup Chopped red onion
  • 0.25 cup Chopped tomatoes
  • 0.25 cup Pomegranate seeds
  • 0.25 cup Sev (vegan crispy chickpea noodles)
  • 1 teaspoon Chaat masala
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh cilantro, chopped

Directions

Step 1

Boil the potatoes until tender, approximately 15 minutes. Cool, peel, and mash them in a mixing bowl.

Step 2

Boil the green peas until soft, then lightly mash them and mix into the mashed potatoes.

Step 3

Add the corn flour, ground cumin, ground coriander, chili powder, and salt to the potato-pea mixture. Combine well to form a dough.

Step 4

Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and shape into round, flat patties (tikkis).

Step 5

Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and shallow fry the tikkis for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.

Step 6

To assemble the chaat, place 2 tikkis on a serving plate. Drizzle a tablespoon each of tamarind chutney, green coriander chutney, and vegan yogurt over the tikkis.

Step 7

Sprinkle chopped onion, chopped tomatoes, pomegranate seeds, sev, and chaat masala over the top.

Step 8

Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve immediately.
