Ingredients

  • 2 whole Globe artichokes
  • 1 whole Lemon
  • 4 tablespoons Vegan butter
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Prepare the artichokes: Trim the stem to about 1 inch in length and remove the tough outer leaves near the base. Use kitchen scissors to snip off the sharp tips of the remaining leaves. Slice off the top inch of the artichoke.

Step 2

Rinse the artichokes under cold water, spreading the leaves slightly to remove any dirt or debris.

In a large pot, add 2 cups of water and place a steamer basket inside. Bring the water to a simmer.

Place the prepared artichokes in the steamer basket, stem-side down. Cover the pot with a lid and steam for about 25-30 minutes, or until the outer leaves pull away easily and the base is tender.
