  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 cup nutritional yeast
  • 1.5 cups vital wheat gluten
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seeds, crushed
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a small bowl, combine the ground flaxseed and 5 tablespoons of water. Mix well and let it sit for about 5 minutes to thicken.

In another bowl, pour the boiling water over the textured vegetable protein (TVP) and let it sit for 5 minutes to rehydrate.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the rehydrated TVP, thickened flaxseed mixture, nutritional yeast, vital wheat gluten, all-purpose flour, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, dried sage, crushed fennel seeds, soy sauce, maple syrup, olive oil, salt, and black pepper.
