Ingredients

  • 1 cup Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP)
  • 1 cup Hot Water
  • 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Liquid Smoke
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Sage
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground Ginger
  • 0.5 cup Chickpea Flour
  • 2 tablespoons Nutritional Yeast
  • 0.5 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 4 pieces Vegan Burger Buns
  • 4 pieces Lettuce Leaves
  • 4 pieces Tomato Slices
  • 4 tablespoons Vegan Mayonnaise

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine the TVP with hot water, soy sauce, and liquid smoke. Stir well and let it sit for 10 minutes to absorb the liquid and rehydrate.

Step 2

Once the TVP is rehydrated, add onion powder, garlic powder, ground sage, black pepper, ground ginger, chickpea flour, nutritional yeast, and breadcrumbs to the bowl.

Step 3

Mix all ingredients until well combined and form into four equal patties.

Step 4

Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Lightly oil the skillet if needed.

Step 5

Place the patties in the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they are browned and cooked through.

Step 6

While the patties are cooking, prepare the buns by spreading vegan mayonnaise on each bun.

Step 7

Place a cooked patty on the bottom half of each bun, and top with lettuce leaves and tomato slices.

Step 8

Cover with the top half of the bun and serve immediately.
