Ingredients

  • 400 grams seitan strips
  • 60 ml soy sauce
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon ginger root
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 60 ml water
  • 2 green onions
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil

Directions

Step 1

Begin by mincing the garlic cloves and grating the ginger root. Slice the green onions and set aside.

Step 2

In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, minced garlic, maple syrup, rice vinegar, grated ginger, and sesame oil. Set aside this soy-garlic sauce.

Step 3

In another small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water until smooth to create a slurry. Set aside.

Step 4

Heat the cooking oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 5

Once the oil is hot, add the seitan strips. Stir-fry them for about 5-7 minutes until they are golden brown and slightly crispy.

Step 6

Pour the prepared soy-garlic sauce over the seitan strips and stir to coat evenly.

Step 7

Stir in the cornstarch slurry to thicken the sauce. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce has thickened and the seitan strips are well coated.

Step 8

Remove from heat and sprinkle with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Step 9

Serve hot over steamed rice or your favorite grain for a complete meal.
