Ingredients

  • 8 ounces vegan sausage (crumbled)
  • 2 cups unsweetened plant-based milk (such as almond, soy, or oat milk)
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons vegan butter or neutral oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons ground black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons smoked paprika (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the vegan butter or oil.

Step 2

Once the butter is melted, add the crumbled vegan sausage. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and heated through.

Step 3

Sprinkle the all-purpose flour evenly over the cooked vegan sausage. Stir well to coat the sausage and cook for 1-2 minutes to eliminate the raw flour taste.

Step 4

Slowly pour in the plant-based milk, a little at a time, whisking constantly to prevent lumps from forming.

Step 5

Reduce the heat to low and continue stirring until the mixture thickens, about 5-8 minutes.

Step 6

Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and smoked paprika (if using). Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.

Step 7

Remove from heat and let the gravy sit for a minute to thicken further.

Step 8

Serve hot over warm biscuits, mashed potatoes, or your favorite dish. Enjoy!
