Ingredients

  • 1 cup Sathumavu (Multigrain Health Mix)
  • 1 cup Rice Flour
  • 0.75 cup Grated Coconut
  • 0.5 cup Water
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Cardamom Powder

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, mix the Sathumavu (multigrain health mix) and rice flour together.

Step 2

Add salt and cardamom powder to the flour mix and combine well.

Step 3

Gradually sprinkle water over the flour mixture while stirring with your hand to moisten the flour. The mixture should resemble coarse breadcrumbs and should hold together when pressed between your fingers.

Step 4

Set up a puttu steamer or an idli steamer with enough water and allow it to boil.

Step 5

Begin layering the puttu maker starting with a tablespoon of grated coconut at the bottom. Add around 3-4 tablespoons of the flour mixture, followed by another spoon of grated coconut. Repeat this process until the puttu maker is full, ending with coconut on top.

Step 6

Place the puttu maker on the steamer and steam for about 10 minutes, until you see steam escaping from the top.

Step 7

Carefully remove the puttu from the mould and repeat the process with the remaining flour mixture.

Step 8

Serve hot with curry, banana, or any side dish of your choice.
