  • 200 grams Textured vegetable protein (TVP) chunks
  • 500 ml Vegetable broth
  • 3 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Dried thyme
  • 0.5 teaspoon Dried rosemary
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Nutritional yeast
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Vegan butter
  • 1 tablespoon Extra olive oil for brushing

Directions

Step 1

Bring the vegetable broth to a boil in a large saucepan. Add the TVP chunks and stir. Remove from heat, cover, and let sit for 10 minutes until the TVP is rehydrated. Drain any excess liquid.

Step 2

In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, soy sauce, maple syrup, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, rosemary, black pepper, and nutritional yeast. Mix to form a marinade.

Add the rehydrated TVP chunks to the marinade and stir to coat thoroughly. Let marinate for at least 20 minutes for better flavor.

Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Drain the TVP chunks from the marinade, saving the marinade for later use. Spread the chunks evenly on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, remove the pan and brush the wings with the reserved marinade, adding the additional tablespoon of olive oil to enhance the crispy texture.

Return to the oven and bake for another 20 minutes until the wings are golden and crispy.
